Project History and Updates

I undertook this project casually and sporadically in 2024 and then more serious in 2025 as a labor of love only to satisfy my sense of order regarding the mess that is the Baseball Hall of Fame.

The plan is and was to complete the Awards Project first, then use that data to come up with each class of Halls inductees.

The Awards Project had multiple stops and starts as I attempted to figure out the process. By early 2026 I had completed seasons 1871-1946, but was dissatisfied with the proportion of awards over the various seasons.

Therefore I came up with a system that I was satisfied with (approximately 1 award for each 12 players that had at least 50 Plate Appearances or 50 Innings Pitched) and then began the long journey to go back and review and revise each season from 1871 forward. At the same time I went forward with the new system from 1947 thru the 1959 seasons before I stopped to work on the revisions full-time.

As of August 9, 2026 I have completed the review and revision of the 1871-1946 seasons. Therefore all seasons 1871-1959 are complete and I will resume with the 1960 season shortly.
